Winter Classic Ice Skate
Free skate Saturday night we were lucky enough to be chosen for the Comcast free skate down at Citizens Bank Park. The session opened at 4:45pm and the actual skating time was 5:30 till 6pm and we were allowed to go 15 minutes extra which was nice since it was such a great experience. Free skating, free refreshments (aka beer) and free rentals for the boy. He still needs to work on his footwork, but his snowball throwing and body checking seem to be advanced for his age…

2012 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic
Well another Winter Classic attended and another loss… at least we did not have to drive five hours home from Boston this time and to heal our wounds we celebrated the day with a great dinner at Popis . The early highlight of the day was big Eric Lindros in row 24 behind us. He was swarmed with iPhones and camera ops for at least 30 minutes straight, so that would explain why we did not see him in the 2nd and 3rd periods. It was cool to see him in the stands, just wish he offered to buy us some $8 beers.
The last 24/7 HBO episode will air Thursday night and it would have been great to see the Flyers celebrating behind closed doors, versus the Rangers living it up. Two periods the Flyers dominated the Rangers but like always, the other team had the better goalie. Seems NBC might have swayed the decision for the refs to call a penalty shot with 19 seconds left and if Briere score, the building would have exploded – but in true Philly fashion, the fuse burnt out. Many years it was Brodeur that haunted us, now it is the Swede with the cool car. The fact that he is 29 years old means we have many more years of running into a frustrating wall, oh well..
Overall, Fenway had a better atmosphere outside the game but with limited views inside due to the technology, Citizens Bank really stepped it up for the win in that department. Having the game pushed back to 3pm allowed for some night time action which made it that much better, plus it even snowed a little bit.

Welcome Maya Eve – 09/04/11
Welcome Miss Maya Eve… our beautiful daughter. Pregnancy is one of the most amazing things as one minute the baby is inside the mother and the next minute the baby is crying and gasping for air all within seconds. Our “little” girl arrived and was not so little as she tipped the scale at 8lbs 14oz and 21in long – big fish! With Maya being our second, this time around it was different as the experience of going to the hospital a bit early would not be repeated. Around 9am September 3rd, Emily had some signs of early labor and throughout the day it progressed which lead us to the hospital for a 9pm arrival .
It seems there was an influx of moms ready to give birth since four expectant mothers arrived within a 45 minute window, interesting as when we left the hospital on September 6th, there were around 18 kids in the nursery! With Owen’s labor things kind of just dragged on but with little Maya, things went a bit “quicker”. With Owen, Emily did not feel the contractions but felt the birth, and with Maya she felt the contractions but and did not feel the delivery as much. Owen had a very limited amount of blonde hair and Maya has 3/4 full head of brown hair and Owen has a peni… well we will stop there, you get the point.
Below are some pictures of the last couple of days to share along with two videos. Owen was very excited to see Mommy and Maya home again as he has been asking every night where they were. As you can see Maya’s Bilirubin is high and the doctor told us to supplement some formula along with breastfeeding… so Maya is not a Jersey Shore extra with that wonderful orange tan (if anyone was wondering).

Video below is big brother Owen holding Maya for the first time, what a great site. Owen was very nice to his sister and is very excited to have her around so far… the audio in the video is a bit low but he had some cute moments with “awwwh shes cryin“, “are you hungry” and “its not talk to me“.
